The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation was conceptualized in December 1995 under the Act-VI of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and formally established in January 1996.

1996 - 2016

The Foundation worked to support the Health Department

Amendments

For two decades, around 1996 to 2016, the Foundation worked to support the Health Department on a limited scale by providing scholarships to medical students, awarding gold medals to remarkable students, training of healthcare providers and by conducting free medical camps.

2016 - 2017

In the year 2016 and 17

Public-Private Partnership for health care

In the year 2016 and 17, the Health Foundation Act underwent significant amendments which clearly defined the mandate of Health Foundation as ‘To promote and enable the development of innovative healthcare delivery models to achieve policy objectives of Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve coverage through various means of Public-Private Partnership for health care delivery services. The amendment significantly broadened the ambit of Health Foundation’s functions and enhanced its subsequent impact on the quality of care of Provincial health services.

2018-19

Healthcare facilities at primary and secondary healthcare levels

Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives

In the year 2018-19 the Health Foundation initiated its major Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives by outsourcing certain healthcare facilities at primary and secondary healthcare levels in distant areas of the province. The pilot initiatives provided significant results, paving the way for a new chapter in healthcare delivery within the province.
